Face balms have become my recent obsession. They are one of the most moisturizing formulations on the market. If you live somewhere that has cold, harsh temperatures, you need something like a balm to protect your skin. Low humidity levels inside and out draw moisture from your skin, leaving it dry, flaky and vulnerable. I’m reviewing a balm from local skincare brand, Lin. Before I jump straight into the review, I believe a short introduction of this lovely company is in order.

Lin skincare is a natural beauty brand, which strives for the maximum quality it can possibly offer and therefore creates its products in mirco-batches only. Each product is harvested from superfood enriched, plant-based ingredients – rich with amino acids, anti-microbes, beneficial enzymes, and minerals.

Let me start off by saying that I have parched, flaky, dry skin to begin with (even in the hot summers). I occasionally get a few blackheads or a clogged pore here and there. With that said, my skin is always in need of a moisture-boost and overall TLC.

This balm comes packaged in a sleek, black jar. It’s light brown in color and has a fresh, pleasant scent. Thankfully not too over-powering. If you must know, I hate strong smelling creams but I do enjoy using something with a little fragrance as it adds to the relaxation element of a product.

In terms of consistency, it’s thick and easy to apply. Due to it’s dense formulation you might be worried that it will be comedogenic (clog your pores, resulting in breakouts). I thought so too, however this was not the case. Here’s the deal, just as much as you want moisture you also don’t want a product feeling uncomfortably heavy on the skin. That’s why this cream is SO great. It sinks into the skin in a flash without feeling too heavy or greasy.

My ideal time for application would be at night. I slather on a generous amount and let it melt into the skin for a few minutes. The next day my skin is left feeling soft, glowing and deeply moisturized. Did I mention glowing? Yes. It’s only been 3 weeks and I’ve noticed a significant improvement with the overall texture of my skin. It’s a lot smoother, brighter and even some of my pigmentation has faded.

I really wish I had discovered this sooner. It’s a miracle product for several different uses and remedies. I’ve listed some of them below…

Key ingredients:

• Cacao butter
• Avocado oil
• Hemp oil
• Coconut oil
• Olive Oil
• Grape-seed oil
• Beeswax
• Rooibos
• Rosemary
• Lavendar

Raw Superfood Universal Remedies:

• Mosturization
• Acne
• Anti-aging (collagen increase)
• Eczema
• Dry skin
• Detoxification
• Improved skin elasticity
• Anti-inflammatory
• Wound & burn healing
• Sun protection

My final thoughts?

If you’re looking for an economical product that packs a deeply moisturizing punch, I would highly recommend the Raw Superfood. Don’t shy away if you have oily skin because a balm can have a balancing effect and help the skin to regulate its own oil production.
