Homespun Lab – Review

There’s one product formulation that’s been around for some time now and hasn’t gotten the hype I think it deserves and that is: powder formulated products. If you’re not familiar with this, let me quickly get you up to speed. These formulations contain dry ingredients that need to be activated by mixing them with either water or milk. They’re extremely beneficial for the skin and as a result, powders can stay stable for longer and need significantly fewer preservatives, making it a safer alternative for the skin.
I got a chance to review two product offerings from natural skincare brand, Homespun Lab. Curious to see how these products worked for me?

Himalayan & Aloe Mud Musk
One of my favourites out of the two. This mask contains pure himalayan mud and organic aloe vera powder. It draws out toxins, impurities and absorbs excess oil. The best part? It doesn’t dry out the skin either. As the mask dries, it doesn’t crack or feel tight. Instead, all the minerals from the mud sink deep into your skin. After use, my skin feels hydrated, smooth and visually brighter. I think anyone with normal/oily skin will absolutely love this mask.
To apply, I mix a small amount of the powder with water. Apply generously to the skin and let it absorb for 10-15 minutes before wiping it off. You’ll get a really deep clean and a powerful anti-inflammatory treatment.
Key Ingredients
Pure Himalayan Mud – helps to absorb excess oil from the skin and remove impurities and pollutants
Organic Aloe Vera – helps to maintain skin’s elasticity, fade scarring and smooth skin texture
Seaweed & Oats Exfoliate
I’m sure we all know by now that exfoliation is a valuable treatment in skincare for unclogging pores, removing dead skin cells and deep cleansing the skin. Did you know that with regular exfoliation it can help skincare products penetrate 20 percent better. Pretty amazing, right?
This one contains powerful seaweed extract and organic oats. It provides a deep, yet gentle exfoliation without any irritation. Leaving the skin feeling velvety smooth and instantly refreshed. The cool part is you’re also in control of how gritty the exfoliant is. In need of a more hard-working, intense exfoliation? Just add more product. Since it’s in a powder form, the customization is what makes it such a winner amongst other exfoliants.
To apply, I mix a small amount of this product with water, massage it in circular motions and rinse off.
Key Ingredients
Seaweed – helps to balance skin, help regulate sebum production and treat acne
Organic Oats – helps to exfoliate skin, repair damage from chemicals, and reduce pore size.
My final thoughts?
Both of these products are wonderful and I’ll definitely continue using them. Very gentle, fragrance-free, and won’t bust your budget. What’s not to love? I’d highly recommend this brand.
