Best Beauty Rituals for the Weekend

Self-care has grown to become a necessity in all of our lives. Life gets stressful (to say the least!) and we ALL need to take some time for ourselves every so often. Personally, I enjoy dedicating some time on the weekends to some self-care. Beauty rituals are a great way to indulge in self-care, they also happen to give you beauty benefits in the process – two birds, one stone. Don’t worry, I’m not going to tell you to spend hours and hours of time on beauty rituals (unless that’s what you want to do, then by all means!). I’m all about adapting beauty rituals that don’t take up a lot of time but are still effective.
Since we are living in such a stressful time, I think we can all benefit from a few enjoyable beauty rituals. That’s why I’m sharing a few of the best beauty rituals for the weekend. Of course, you can try these rituals out any time of the week – personally I enjoy including these into my weekends to really soak into the weekend vibe.
Deep Cleansing Mask
Ahhh the beauty of a face mask! I don’t know about you, but anytime I’m feeling stressed I notice my skin typically needs a little pick-me-up and face masks are one of the best ways to do just that. They’re effective and generally don’t require a lot of time or fuss. Opting for a deep cleansing mask on the weekends is a great choice. You can set aside a few minutes to apply the mask, sit back and relax while reading a book or watching some tv. The best part of a face mask is it really does all the work for you.
I’m sure I don’t have to tell you there are a TON of face masks available nowadays. The type of deep cleansing mask you choose is really up to your personal preferences and skin type. Just make sure you choose something that’s going to give you that deep cleansing effect, without being too harsh on your skin.
Full Body Exfoliating
Exfoliating your skin is essential to keeping your skin’s appearance healthy, glowing and clear. While many of us know it’s important, it’s not something we apply to our full bodies on a regular basis. That’s why I love doing it on the weekends – a little treat to my skin and myself. I know full body exfoliation is a popular spa service, and you can certainly head to your favorite spa to really get pampered. If the spa isn’t in the cards for you right now, the good news is you can DIY full body exfoliation in the comfort of your own home (quarantine friendly!).
Similar to face masks, there are (what seems like) hundreds of body exfoliating products available in stores everywhere. These products make it super easy to reap the benefits at home. I find full body exfoliation the best when you’re in the shower. Your skin is already soft and it makes it much easier to rinse the product off. Pamper yourself a bit this weekend with a little full body exfoliation before you hop out of the shower.
Bubble Bath with Candle Light
After a long week, sometimes you just need some time to yourself to really relax and get away from all the stressors of life. I know you’ve been there, we all have! Weeks like those, I love to indulge in a candle lit bubble bath. It’s such a simple beauty ritual that can be so soothing to the mind. We don’t often make it a point to set aside time to do something like take a bubble bath. It can seem like such a small thing, but it really does make a difference!
I encourage you to really set the tone and create a relaxing atmosphere for your bubble baths. Light some candles, diffuse some essential oils, maybe even pour yourself a nice glass of wine – do whatever you need to do to turn your bathroom into a relaxation oasis. Weekends are a great time for this because let’s face it – it can feel next to impossible to find time to take a bubble bath during the week.
Jacuzzi with Music
Similar to a bubble bath, but it has it’s differences! There’s something about Jacuzzi that feels like the perfect beauty ritual for the weekend. It’s rare to find the time to really enjoy something like a Jacuzzi. I recommend really setting the tone with your Jacuzzi time with your favorite music playlist. This is your time so the music selection doesn’t have to be spa-type music – whatever you find enjoyable and relaxing is perfect.
The thing that’s nice relishing in a beauty ritual like a Jacuzzi is it’s something you can enjoy with your significant other. Making it such a nice way to step away from real life for a few minutes and reconnect.
Sauna After Workout
Getting a good workout in on the weekends can definitely be looked at as a beauty ritual. Even if you workout during the week, since we all have a little more time on the weekends there isn’t the need to rush out of the gym right away. That’s why I think a great beauty ritual for the weekends is hopping into the sauna right after working out. Like the other beauty rituals I’ve mentioned, it’s not something that takes a LOT of time but because it’s a small enjoyable activity you don’t do often – it feels like a special treat for yourself.
Not only are saunas nice for getting a good sweat on, I find the heat feels great on your body after a good workout. Healing from the inside out!
Hair Treatment
I already mentioned the beauty of a face mask over the weekend, but we don’t want to forget about our hair! This is another one of the best beauty rituals, in my humble opinion. We put our hair through a LOT during the week. Between styling our hair with heat, applying products like hairspray and gel, and throwing it up in ponytails – it gets quite the runaround from us. Hair treatments are such an easy way to give your hair some much needed love after all of that, help nourish it, and also pamper yourself in the process.
Much like face masks, there’s an incredible amount of different hair treatments out there. Personally, I like having a variety on hand to utilize as needed. Some weekends I notice my hair needs a little extra conditioning, while others it may need hydration – having variety keeps you prepared!
Beauty rituals are enjoyable because they’re all about you. Take your time as you enjoy your rituals during the weekend. One of my favorite ways to incorporate some of these is by doing a couple back to back or at the same time (whenever possible). I find it’s an easy way to maximize time and really dive into the beauty ritual mode without spending hours and hours doing so. Naturally, there are hundreds of other beauty rituals you can enjoy. The most important thing when it comes to self-care and beauty rituals is just doing what you genuinely enjoy. If you don’t enjoy it – it’s not going to be enjoyable and that defeats the whole purpose of a beauty ritual.
